Creamy, tasty, and healthy; This Pumpkin Pie Smoothie tastes just like fall. It’s refreshing, delicious and loaded with nutrient-dense ingredients. Made with frozen banana, pumpkin puree, nuts and seeds for healthy fats, maple syrup for some sweetness, and pumpkin spice. Makes for a great snack or quick breakfast. 

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie

This is the last recipe of my “all pumpkin all everything” week! I couldn’t have a recipe series without featuring a smoothie. You guys all know how much I like my smoothies.

This Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is so good and makes a delicious and quick snack. It packs a lot of nutrition which is a must for my smoothies. All while getting a taste of fall.

I especially like how creamy this delicious smoothie is. It also does taste just like a slice of pumpkin pie. I promise you will love this smoothie and it will quickly become your go-to drink this season.

Ingredients needed to make Pumpkin Pie Smoothie:

  • Frozen Banana– Adds creaminess and texture to your smoothie.
  • Pumpkin Puree– Either homemade or store-bought.
  • Raw Walnuts– Adds nutrition and texture to your smoothie.
  • Maple Syrup– For sweetness.
  • Chia Seeds– Adds nutrients and protein.
  • Spices– Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves.
  • Vanilla Extract– Adds flavor.
  • Almond Milk– Or any milk of choice.

Equipment needed to make Pumpkin Pie Smoothie:

  • Blender– If you have a high speed blender it’s even better. So that it can blend through the frozen banana and make sure there aren’t any chunks left.

How to make Pumpkin Pie Smoothie:

  • Step 1– Place all ingredients in a high speed blender; frozen banana, pumpkin puree, walnuts, maple syrup, chia seeds, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger, ground cloves, and vanilla extract. Pour in milk last. 
  • Step 2– Blend all ingredients together until smooth consistency is reached. 
  • Step 3– Pour into tall glass and drink immediately. Enjoy!

Tips and Substitutions:

  1. Layer the ingredients in the blender in the order that’s indicated in the recipe- Layering the ingredients this way makes a difference. It allows the blender to blend the frozen ingredients first then takes the rest in with the liquid being last. This makes for a creamier and richer smoothie. Believe me, it matters!
  2. Use any preferred milk– You can use any plant-based or dairy milk you prefer. Oat milk is really good too for this smoothie. I do like using unsweetened milks so I can control the sweetness myself.
  3. Use ice– It makes the smoothie even thicker which helps with the layering of the smoothie as well. Ice will also make the smoothie even more refreshing.
  4. Substitute for chia seeds– You can use other seeds like hemp hearts or flax meal. You can omit the seeds all together.
  5. Substitute for walnuts– You can use pecans or cashews. You can also skip adding nuts all together.
  6. Substitute for frozen banana– You can use frozen cauliflower rice.

Pumpkin Pie Smoothie Variations and Add-ins:

  • Nut Butter– Peanut butter or almond butter are great in this smoothie.
  • Greek Yogurt– Adds creaminess, richness and protein to this smoothie.
  • Protein Smoothie– Add collagen or some protein powder for a protein pumpkin pie smoothie.
  • Top with Whipped Cream– Top with some whipped cream to make your smoothie more fun! Use either dairy or dairy-free whipped cream.

Not a fan of bananas in your smoothies?

If you don’t like bananas in your smoothies, you can use frozen cauliflower rice as a substitute. Frozen cauliflower rice makes smoothies creamy like frozen bananas do. Don’t worry, your smoothie won’t taste like cauliflower. Trust me! Plus it will get the added nutrition cauliflower has to offer.

Can I use Homemade Pumpkin Puree or store bought?

When it comes to using pumpkin puree in recipes I definetly prefer homemade. However, I keep a some cans in my pantry for days I don’t have any homemade in hand. When it comes to making this Pumpkin Pie Smoothie I do like to use homemade pumpkin puree. It adds more nutrients since it’s made with fresh pumpkin. I’m all about adding as much nutrition to my smoothies as possible.

Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana
