Apple Pie Smoothie

If you love apple pie then you will love this Apple Pie Smoothie. Made with fresh crisp apples, frozen banana, cinnamon, nutmeg, flax and collagen. This smoothie is loaded with nutrient-dense ingredients making it super healthy while tasting like a real treat. Creamy, smooth and perfectly spiced. It’s dessert you can drink with a straw!

Ingredients needed to make Apple Pie Smoothie:

  • Granny Smith Apples– You can also use any other apples you already have. I like using granny smooth because they are tart and go well with the other flavors.
  • Frozen Banana– Adds creaminess and texture to your smoothie.
  • Flax Meal– You can use other seeds like hemp hearts or chia.
  • Spices– Cinnamon and nutmeg
  • Vanilla Extract– Adds flavor.
  • Pink Sea Salt– Balances the flavors in the smoothie.
  • Collagen Peptides– This is optional. It adds some protein and creaminess to your smoothie.
  • Oat Milk– Or any preferred milk of choice.

Equipment needed to make Apple Pie Smoothie:

  • High Speed Blender– You need a blender to blend your smoothie.

How to make Apple Pie Smoothie:

  • Step 1– Remove core from apples and dice. Place in blender, followed by frozen banana, flax meal, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, salt, collagen peptides, then add oat milk.
  • Step 2– Blend for 40-60 seconds until creamy smooth texture is reached. Serve and drink immediately. Top with whipped cream if desired. Enjoy!

Tips and Substitutions:

  1. Substitute for chia seeds– You can use other seeds like hemp hearts or flax meal. You can omit the seeds all together.
  2. Use frozen banana– This will make your smoothie thick so that it can be layered.
  3. Use ice– It makes the smoothie even thicker which helps with the layering of the smoothie as well. Ice will also make the smoothie even more refreshing.
  4. Layer the ingredients in the blender in the order that’s indicated in the recipe- Layering the ingredients this way makes a difference. It allows the blender to blend the frozen ingredients first then takes the rest in with the liquid being last. This makes for a creamier and richer smoothie. Believe me, it matters!
  5. Substitute for oat milk– You can use any milk you prefer such as almond milk, cashew milk or even dairy milk.
  6. Substitute for frozen banana– You can use frozen cauliflower rice.

Apple Pie Smoothie Variations and Add-ins:

  • Nuts– Add some walnuts or pecans.
  • Nut Butter– Peanut butter or almond butter are great in this smoothie.
  • Greek Yogurt– Adds creaminess, richness and protein to this smoothie.
  • Protein Smoothie– Omit collagen and add some protein powder for a protein apple pie smoothie.
  • Top with Whipped Cream– Top with some whipped cream to make your smoothie more fun! Use other dairy or dairy-free whipped cream.

Apple Pie Smoothie FAQ’s:

Not a fan of bananas in your smoothies?

If you don’t like bananas in your smoothies, you can use frozen cauliflower rice as a substitute. Frozen cauliflower rice makes smoothies creamy like frozen bananas do. Don’t worry, your smoothie won’t taste like cauliflower. Trust me! Plus it will get the added nutrition cauliflower has to offer.

Can you blend apples for a smoothie?

Yes. Apples blend very well and are great for making smoothies. Just make sure to remove the core and slice or dice into chunks. You can also peel our apples if you desire. However, you don’t have to.

Can you make this smoothie ahead of time?

I do not recommend making this apple pie smoothie ahead of time. Apple oxidize pretty quickly, which will change the texture and taste of your smoothie after a couple of hours. You can blend and puree your apples ahead of time. Add your puree to a mini muffin silicone pan or ice trays ad freeze. Add your frozen apple puree to your smoothie when you’re ready to make it.
