Chocolate Cherry Superfood Smoothie
This Chocolate Cherry Superfood Smoothie is everything you want from any smoothie. It’s smooth, creamy, tasty, filling and packed with nutritious ingredients. With summer right around the corner and cherries in season, this will quickly become your new go-to smoothie. Make it as a delicious and refreshing breakfast or snack. Great for those hot and humid summer days quickly approaching us. Filled with fruit, some of the best superfoods; cacao, chia, hemp, and collagen peptides, and milk of choice. You will love this velvety and chocolaty smoothie.
Ingredients needed to make Chocolate Cherry Superfood Smoothie:
- Frozen Cherries– You can also use fresh. Just make sure they are pitted and to add ice to the smoothie.
- Frozen Banana– Adds creaminess.
- Cacao Powder– Cacao powder has antioxidants. You can also use unsweetened cocoa powder but it won’t have the same superfood nutrients as cacao does.
- Seeds– Chia Seeds and Hemp Hearts
- Collagen Peptides– Adds protein and makes smoothie creamy.
- Unsweetened Almond Milk– Or milk of choice like oat milk.
Equipment needed to make Chocolate Cherry Superfood Smoothie
- Blender– Preferably a high speed blender. A regular blender will work too you may just have to blend your smoothie a little longer.
How to make Chocolate Cherry Superfood Smoothie:
- Step 1– Place all ingredients in a high speed blender. Blend for 60 seconds or until smooth and rich consistency is reached. Use a spoon to check smoothie and make sure there are’t any chunks of fruit left. If there is, place cover back on blender and continue to blend for another few seconds until smoothie is completely smooth.
- Step 2– Pour smoothie into glass or mason jar and enjoy. Keep refrigerated for up to 8 hours if not consuming right away.
Tips and Substitutions:
- Use fresh cherries if that’s what you have– Just make sure to remove the pits and add some ice to your smoothie.
- Not a fan of banana?– You can use frozen cauliflower rice to reach the same level of creaminess. Plus the cauliflower will add even more nutrients to the smoothie.
- Substitute for collagen peptides– You can use protein powder.
- Substitute for almond milk– You can use any milk you prefer. Oat milk is great too as it’s creamy and will keep the smoothie plant-based.

How do you put cherries in a smoothie?
The easiest way to add cherries to your smoothie is by adding frozen cherries. These come pitted and the fact that they are frozen will make your smoothie cold and thicker without having to add ice. If you have fresh cherries you can certainly add those too. Just remove the pits first. You can easily do this with a stainless steel straw to push the pit out of the cherry. Add ice to make smoothie cold and thick.
Is this Chocolate Cherry Superfood Smoothie vegan?
Technically, it is not since it calls for collagen peptides. However, you can easily make it vegan simply by using a vegan protein powder instead of collagen peptides.

Pour any leftover Chocolate Cherry Superfood Smoothie into a mason jar tightly sealed. Keep it refrigerated for up to 24-48 hours. The smoothie may start to separate as it sits in the fridge. Just give it a shake or blend it again to get smooth texture.
