One thing we can all agree on about this season is how prone we all are to getting sick. Reason being that most frequent viruses like influenza, the common cold or even the severe case of RSV are most common during the cold seasons. As a result, we deal with fevers, stomach bugs, chills, and of course sore throats. Which is why I like to stock up on these Throat Soothing Popsicles during this time of year. These popsicles are made with fresh ingredients that are rich in vitamins and healing properties.

Oranges, lemons, grapefruit, ginger root, turmeric root and honey are some of these ingredients. Making these homemade Throat Soothing popsicles loaded in vitamin c, anti-inflammatory properties and able to boost your immune system. They will have you feeling so much better in no time.

Equipment:

  • Juicer– It’s the best and easiest way to make juice. If you don’t have a juicer you can also blend all of the ingredients together in a blender. Add a bit of water to get the blade going. Put the juice through a strainer or cheese cloth and squeeze to separate the juice from the pulp.
  • Popsicle Molds– Preferably a silicone mold to make it easier to pop popsicles out once they’re frozen.
  • Popsicle Sticks– Classic wooden ones are the best.

How to make Throat Soothing Popsicles:

Put carrots, ginger, turmeric, and citrus fruit through juicer and juice. Put all ingredients in the juicer in that exact order. Citrus fruits contain a lot more liquid than carrots, ginger and turmeric do. The liquid from the citrus will help flush through any chunks of the other ingredients that are left behind in the juicer.
  • Step 2– Give juice a good stir making sure the honey in the bottom is completely dissolved into the juice.
  • Step 3– Pour juice into popsicle molds filling up all the way to the top. Place popsicle mold cover and insert popsicle sticks. Place popsicles in the freezer and freeze for at least 2 hours or until popsicles have completely become frozen.
  • Step 4– Take popsicles out of the freezer and run popsicle mold under cold water upside down. This will loosen the popsicles a bit making it easy to pull them out of the mold. Enjoy popsicles as needed or desired. Hope you feel better!
