Easy Stovetop Golden Milk Latte

While Golden Milk Lattes have become trendy here in the US over the last year or so, they’ve been around for a very long time. This beverage originated in India where it is known as Haldi Doodh. Here, you can also find it as Turmeric Latte. It is consumed for it’s number of health benefits like fighting off a cold or the flu. Golden Milk Lattes are great to give you a boost of energy and fight anxiety. 

In addition to aiding in these health issues, Golden Milk Lattes offer much more assistance in promoting good nutrition. Each key ingredient in this recipe is loaded with many health benefits. This concoction is great for digestion, colds & flu, reducing inflammation, improving gut heath, and offers many more health benefits.

What are Golden Milk Lattes?

A Golden Milk Latte or Turmeric Latte is a concoction consisting of a number of nutritious and nourishing ingredients. It calls for turmeric, plant based milk (my preference is coconut for these), honey, black pepper, coconut oil, and cinnamon. This latte is sure to give you a boost of energy along with other health benefits your body needs.

Turmeric is a spice that contains many vital health benefits. It is versatile as it can be used in many different dishes or in this delicious drink. Here are some of the great health benefits it has to offer.

Cinnamon:

Not only does it help your body absorb all the benefits from all the other ingredient, it also gives the latte a creamy texture.

  • Blender

How to make Golden Milk Latte:

  • Step 1– Pour milk in a small saucepan and place on stovetop. Turn heat on low and bring milk to a light simmer. 
  • Step 2– Pour heated milk in a blender then add in all other ingredients; ground turmeric, black pepper, ground ginger, cinnamon, coconut oil, honey, and collagen peptides (if using). Blend together for 30 seconds. 
  • Step 3– Pour golden milk latte into cup and garnish with more cinnamon if desired. Drink immediately and enjoy!

Tips and Substitutions:

  1. Simmer milk until hot- Golden milk latte is better when served hot.
  2. No blender?- Use a milk frother. Add all dry ingredients including coconut oil to a cup, then pour in heated milk. Use milk frother to mix latte.
  3. Don’t skip black pepper- Black pepper helps boost your body’s absorption of turmeric along with all it’s healing properties.
  4. Substitute for coconut milk- Use any milk of choice like unsweetened almond milk or oat milk.
  5. Substitute for honey- Use maple syrup.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup coconut milk (or any preferred milk)
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • pinch ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (more for garnish)
  • 1 tsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp raw honey
  • 1 scoop collagen peptides (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour milk in a small saucepan and place on stovetop. Turn heat on low and bring milk to a light simmer.
