Ingredients needed to make Homemade Strawberry Lemonade:

  • Fresh Strawberries– You can also use frozen ones but fresh do taste better.
  • Lemons– You definitely want to use freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  • Maple Syrup– For sweetness.
  • Water– More or less depending on how sweet you want your lemonade.
  • Ice– For serving.

Equipment needed to make Homemade Strawberry Lemonade:

  • Blender or Food Processor– To blend strawberries.
  • Large Pitcher– For serving lemonade.
  • Spatula– To mix lemonade.
  • Lemon Squeezer– Makes it a lot easier and faster to squeeze lemons.

How to make Homemade Strawberry Lemonade:

  • Step 1– Take 2 cups whole fresh strawberries and slice them into fourths after removing the stem. Place sliced strawberries in a blender or food processor and puree for 40-60 seconds.
  • Step 2– Squeeze lemons until you get 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice. About half a dozen large lemons will give you 1 cup juice depending on how ripe and juicy the lemons are.
  • Step 3– Add maple syrup to a large pitcher, then add in strawberry puree, followed by lemon juice then water. Use a spatula to stir until well combined. Place lemonade in the fridge and allow to chill for at least 1 hour. The more it chills the better it will taste and the more refreshing it will be. After the lemonade has been chilled for a while, taste for sweetness and add more maple syrup if desired.
  • Step 4– To serve, fill a tall glass or mason jar with ice. Pour in chilled lemonade. Garnish with some lemon slices or wedges and strawberries if desired. You can also replace some or all of the ice for some frozen strawberries for added flavor and sweetness. It’ll make the lemonade look so pretty too! Enjoy!

Tips and Substitutions:

  1. Use ripe fruit to make your lemonade– Ripe lemons carry more juice and tend to be sweeter. Same for strawberries. Using ripe fruit to make your lemonade will result in more juice using less lemons, less tart and sweeter lemons, and more sweetness also from the strawberries.
  2. Chill lemonade before tasting it for sweetness-As lemonade sits and chills more flavors will be released and it can get sweeter. Try it at this point and add maple syrup to taste if you’d like it sweeter.
  3. Add ice to glass before serving rather than pitcher– Adding ice directly to the pitcher will cause the lemonade to water down as the ice melts. Instead, add ice to each individual glass or mason jar before pouring and serving lemonade.
  4. Use frozen strawberries to serve lemonade– Replace ice (or use less) with frozen strawberries. This will add sweetness to your lemonade, more flavor and a pop of color!
  5. Want to make it an adult beverage?- Add some white wine for a refreshing and sweet adult beverage!
  6. Substitute for maple syrup– You can use honey or maple sugar.
