Healthy Homemade Fudgsicles

As a kid Fudgicles or Fudge Pops were a staple in our home during the summer. There was nothing like playing outside for hours then coming in for a fudgsicle and enjoying that chocolaty, fudgy, creamy, frozen treat!

Unfortunately, classic store-bought fudgsicles are packed with so much sugars, preservatives, additives and so many more not so good ingredients. These Healthy Homemade Fusgicles are much cleaner and made with just six simple ingredients. They’re packed with nutrients, healthy and just as creamy, chocolaty, fudgy and delicious as the store-bought ones! One might say even tastier. Make these delicious fudge bars to enjoy this summer!

Cacao Powder vs. Cocoa Powder:

When it comes to cacao and cocoa the two may look similar, however there is a huge and important difference between the two. Both powders are a bean that derives from the cacao plant. Cacao powder is made from fermented beans that have not been roasted. They are processed at low temperatures and then milled into a powder.

In contrast, cocoa powder is processed at much higher temperatures and often mixed and packaged with high contents of sugars and dairy. Leaving it with very little nutritional value. Cacao powder has a much bitter taste than cocoa but has a much higher nutritional content.

How long do Fudgsicles last in the freezer?

Fudgsicles can be kept frozen for up to 6 months for best taste.

Tips to soften Fudgsicles:

These fudgsicles are made with healthy real ingredients which can get pretty hard once frozen. They will be too hard to remove from the molds as soon as you take them out of the freezer. I have a couple of tips to help soften the fudgsicles.

  1. Remove fudgsicles from the freezer and let them sit for 10-15 minutes so that they can get a bit soft and you can easily take them out of the molds.
  2. You can also fill a large bowl with warm water and submerge the bottom of the mold into the water for a few seconds to soften fudgsicles.
