Ingredients needed to make Immune Boosting Juice:
- Oranges– I like using Navel oranges since they are easy to find and are very juicy.
- Lemon– Ripe juicy lemons are great because they tend to have a lot of juice in them.
- Carrots– They are rich in vitamin A and C and help boost your immune system.
- Ginger Root– Ginger has so many great health benefits and adds a nice flavor to this immune boosting juice.
- Turmeric Root– Also has many health benefits and is great for helping boost your immune system.
- Black Pepper– Helps boost your body’s absorption of turmeric along with all its healing properties.
- Honey– Many health benefits such as helping relief sore throats and coughs. Also adds some sweetness to this immune boosting juice.
Equipment needed to make Immune Boosting Juice:
- Juicer– You will need a juicer to make this juice. If you don’t have a juicer, you can use a blender. Then strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to separate the liquid juice from the pulp. Add a bit of water if you need to when blending your ingredients.
How to make Immune Boosting Juice:
- Step 1– Start by peeling oranges and lemon (no need to peel carrots). Cut citrus and carrots into chunks to make them easier to run through juicer.
- Step 2– Set up your juicer. Put ginger and turmeric roots through juicer first. Then carrots. At this point add black pepper and honey to the juice in your cup or pitcher. Stir well with a spoon.
- Step 3– Continue to juice oranges and lemon. The citrus fruits have more water content so they will help wash out any ginger, turmeric or carrot residue left in the juicer as they get juiced.
- Step 4– Stir your juice once again and serve in a glass or mason jar. You can refrigerate your juice for a few minutes if you wish to drink it cold. I like to make this juice first thing in the morning. Place it in my fridge and let it chill while I get ready. Then I drink it before I have my breakfast or with my breakfast. This part is totally optional and you can drink your juice right away too if you prefer.
Tips and Substitutions:
- Put all ingredients in the juicer in that exact order indicated in recipe- Citrus fruits contain a lot more liquid than carrots, ginger and turmeric do. The liquid from the citrus will help push through any chunks of the other ingredients that are left behind in the juicer.
- Don’t skip black pepper- Black pepper helps boost your body’s absorption of turmeric along with all its healing properties.
- Substitute for honey- If you don’t like honey or want to keep these vegan friendly, use maple syrup instead.
- Use organic ingredients if possible– When you juice fruits and vegetables, you’re consuming the entire food, including the skin and fibers where pesticide residues can concentrate. Using organic ingredients minimizes your intake of these chemicals, ensuring a cleaner and potentially more nutritious juice
