Overall there are many people who have nut allergies these days. Many schools have opted to be nut-free to protect kids who have these allergies. This can make it very hard for some parents when it comes to packing lunches for their kids. Even if your child doesn’t have a nut allergy, they may not be able to bring anything that contains nuts to school. Including trail mix.

Trail mix is usually a mix of both sweet and salty ingredients. The main ingredients usually consist of nuts such as almonds, cashews, walnuts, etc. Dried fruit, chocolate, and seeds amongst other ingredients are also used. Trail mix is a great snack to pack for when you are on-the-go.
Why make trail mix nut-free?
While trail mix usually entail the use of nuts, they can be made nut-free. Why make it nut-free? There are many people who have allergies to nuts. They obviously can’t have any foods that contain nuts. For this same reason and to protect kids who may also have this allergies, a lot of schools are nut-free.

- Dark Chocolate Chips
- Coconut Chips
- Dried Cranberries
- Dried Cherries
- Hemp Hearts
- Freeze Dried Strawberries

- Large Mixing Bowl
- Wide Mouth Mason Jars for storing
How to make Nut-Free Trail Mix:
- In a large mixing bowl, add all ingredients and give them a good toss making sure everything is well combined.
- Serve and keep trail mix in a wide mason jar or airtight container for absolute freshness. Keep trail mix in a tight lid container for 2-3 weeks for best taste and freshness.
