Collagen Hot Chocolate

There is nothing more comforting than a cup of hot cocoa on a cold, snowy, winter night. There’s no Christmas without hot chocolate. This Collagen Hot Chocolate is just as comforting as the traditional warm beverage but with a healthy twist.

Collagen Hot Chocolate is packed with protein and makes for a creamy, chocolaty and healthy beverage. The classic comforting, warm, childhood favorite drink made healthy and rich in nutrients. This Hot Cocoa is nourishing and loaded with many health benefits.

This version of hot chocolate is dairy-free and refined sugar-free. Just as delicious and rich as a classic cup of hot cocoa.

Ingredients needed to make Collagen Hot Chocolate:

  • Oat Milk– Makes hot chocolate so creamy. Unsweetened almond milk, cashew milk, and coconut milk are great too.
  • Cacao Powder– Cacao powder is rich in antioxidants adding more nutrients to this hot chocolate.
  • Collagen Peptides– Adds protein to this hot chocolate.
  • Coconut Sugar– For natural sweetness.
  • Maple Syrup– Also adds sweetness and dilutes the taste of coconut from the coconut sugar.
  • Pink Sea Salt– Elevates the flavors in this hot chocolate.
  • Gluten-Free Marshmallows– To top your collagen hot chocolate. Can’t have hot cocoa without marshmallows.

Equipment needed to make Collagen Hot Chocolate:

  • Small Saucepan– For warming up the milk for the hot chocolate.
  • High Speed Blender– To blend everything together. Can also use a frother to mix everything together.

How to make Collagen Hot Chocolate:

  • Step 1– Place a small saucepan on the stovetop and pour milk. Bring to a simmer and allow milk to heat up. About 2 minutes but if you like your hot cocoa hotter you may leave it longer until it reaches the temperature you desire.
  • Step 2– Pour warmed-up milk in a high speed blender. Add the rest of ingredients with the exception of marshmallows. Blend on high speed for 40-60 seconds.
  • Step 3– Pour blended hot cocoa in mugs and top with mini GF marshmallows. Enjoy!

Tips and Substitutions:

  1. Use a milk frother if you don’t want to use a blender- Just add all the dry ingredients to the mugs then pour in warmed-up milk. Blending the hot chocolate does mix the ingredients better but a frother will do the trick if you just want to make a quick cup of hot cocoa.
  2. Use both coconut and maple syrup to sweeten hot chocolate- This way neither the coconut nor maple flavors will overpower the chocolate flavor.
  3. Substitute for cacao powder- You can use unsweetened cocoa powder.
  4. Use any preferred kind of milk- You can use any plant based milk or even dairy. Just make sure it’s unsweetened. Oat milk and coconut milk are my personal favorite because they make hot chocolate so creamy.
  5. Substitute for coconut sugar- You can use maple sugar.
  6. Substitute for maple syrup- You can use honey.

How to serve Collagen Hot Chocolate:

Collagen hot chocolate is like any other cup of hot cocoa, just with some added protein and nutrition. Serve your collagen hot chocolate just like you would any traditional hot chocolate. Some of our favorite ways are:

  • Topped with gluten-free marshmallows.
  • Topped with dairy-free whipped cream.
  • Adding some peppermint extract for an extra touch of Christmas flavor.
  • With some shaved dark chocolate.
  • With some chocolate or rainbow sprinkles.
  • Topped with peppermint.
  • Enjoy your collagen hot chocolate with some Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies.
