Ingredients

Strawberry Smoothie:

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 2 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tsp chia seeds (optional)
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ice

Mango Smoothie:

  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 2 tbsp plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tsp chia seeds
  • 2/3 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ice

Instructions

  1. Place ingredients for strawberry smoothie (with the exception of ice) in blender. Blend for about 1 minute until creamy texture is reached. Add in a handful of ice and blend again until thick consistency is reached. Add more ice if you need to or if you'd like your smoothie even thicker.

  2. Pour strawberry smoothie into a measuring cup or pitcher. Place in the freezer while you make mango smoothie.

  3. Rinse blender to remove residue from the strawberry smoothie. Add in all of the ingredients for frozen mango smoothie into blender except the ice. Blend again for 1-2 minutes until creamy consistency has been reached. Add in ice and blend once again until thick creamy texture is reached.

  4. Take a small glass and start by filling it up about half way with strawberry smoothie. Then fill up the rest of the way with mango smoothie. Garnish with some strawberries if desired. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Tips and Substitutions:

    1. Use frozen fruits- This will make your smoothie thick so that it can be layered.
    2. Use ice- It makes the smoothie even thicker which helps with the layering of the smoothie as well. Ice will also make the smoothie even more refreshing.
    3. Layer the ingredients in the blender in the order that’s indicated in the recipe- Layering the ingredients this way makes a difference. It allows the blender to blend the frozen ingredients first then takes the rest in with the liquid being last. This makes for a creamier and richer smoothie. Believe me, it matters!
    4. Substitute for almond milk- You can use any milk you prefer such as oat milk, cashew milk or even dairy milk.
    5. Substitute for chia seeds- You can use other seeds like hemp hearts or flax meal. You can omit the seeds all together.
    6. Blend everything together- If you're not looking for a pretty and fancy layered smoothie. You can save yourself a couple of steps and just blend everything together and serve as is.
