Ingredients

  • 2 cups oat milk (or unsweetend almond milk)
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 scoop collagen peptides
  • 2 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1/8 tsp pink sea salt
  • gluten-free mini marshmallows for serving

Instructions

  1. Place a small saucepan on the stovetop and pour milk. Bring to a simmer and allow milk to heat up. About 2 minutes but if you like your hot cocoa hotter you may leave it longer until it reaches the temperature you desire.

  2. Pour warmed-up milk in a high speed blender. Add the rest of ingredients with the exception of marshmallows. Blend on high speed for 40-60 seconds.
  3. Pour blended hot cocoa in mugs and top with mini GF marshmallows. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Tips and Substitutions:

  1. Use a milk frother if you don't want to use a blender- Just add all the dry ingredients to the mugs then pour in warmed-up milk. Blending the hot chocolate does mix the ingredients better but a frother will do the trick if you just want to make a quick cup of hot cocoa.
  2. Use both coconut and maple syrup to sweeten hot chocolate- This way neither the coconut or maple flavors will overpower the chocolate flavor.
  3. Substitute for cacao powder- You can use unsweetened cocoa powder.
  4. Use any preferred kind of milk- You can use any plant based milk or even dairy. Just make sure it's unsweetened. Oat milk and coconut milk are my personal favorite because they make hot chocolate so creamy.
  5. Substitute for coconut sugar- You can use maple sugar.
  6. Substitute for maple syrup- You can use honey.
