Ingredients

  • 2 large hass avocados
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 Jalapeño pepper (seeded if you wish for less spice)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (plus more for garnish)
  • 1/4 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp pink salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp lime (about 1 lime)

Instructions

  1. Thinly dice onion, tomato and jalapeño. Thinly chop cilantro and measure 1/4 cup plus more for garnish. Set prepped veggies aside. Slice avocados open, peel and remove pit. Toss avocado in a large mixing bowl. Using a fork or potato masher, mash avocado as much as you'd like for a smoother texture, or less for a chunkier guac. Use your personal preference.

  2. Toss prepped veggies into bowl with mashed avocados; diced tomato, onion, jalapeño, and cilantro. Drizzle lime juice, sprinkle pink salt, pepper, garlic powder and cumin. Gently stir all ingredients together making sure they're well combined with the avocado making a rich and creamy guac.

  3. Serve guacamole immediately in a serving bowl along with your favorite chips. Garnish with more cilantro if desired. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Tips for making Homemade Guacamole:

  1. Pick avocados that are firm but gentle to the touch- This is typically a good sign that avocados are ripe and ready to cut open. These make for the richest and creamiest guacamole.
  2. Leave the pits from the avocado in the guac until ready to serve- This trick slows down the avocados from browning.
  3. Use a potato masher to mash avocados- It makes it so much easier and you can control how creamy or chunky you want to leave your avocados. Depending on what kind of texture you want your guacamole to be.
