Ingredients

  • 4 sweet potatoes
  • 1-2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp pink salt
  • 1/2 tbsp paprika
  • 1/2 tbsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by rinsing and scrubbing your sweet potatoes. Then dry them thoroughy. Peel and cut your sweet potatos lengthwise. Slice each side into about 1/4-1/3 inch thick sticks just like fries. Place fries in a large mixing bowl and fill with cold water. Allow to sit soaking for at least 20 minutes (see note).

  2. Drain and rinse fries. Gently, dab dry each fry one by one with a paper towel. Dry thoroughly making sure each fry is completely dry.

  3. Preheat oven at 400 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread out fries on baking sheet pan. Drizzle fries with avocado oil making sure all fries are well coated with the oil.

  4. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together all spices until they are combined well; pink salt, paprika, dried parsley, garlic powder, ground turmeric and cayenne peppper (if using).

  5. Sprinkle seasoning mixture over fries. Give fries a good toss making sure all fries are well coated with seasoning. Place in oven and bake for 25 minutes. Remove fries from the oven. Using a spatula carefully flip fries. Place back in oven and bake for another 12-15 minutes. Do 15-18 if you like them very crispy.

  6. Change oven from bake to broil setting on High and broil fries for 1-2 minutes. You can skip this step if desired but it definitely helps get the fries even crispier.

  7. Serve sweet potato fries while they are still warm with your favorite dipping sauce like ketchup or fresh guac! Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Tips for making Baked Sweet Potatoes Fries:

  1. Soak sweet potato fries in cold water as long as possible- Leaving sweet potatoes in water for a while extracts most of the starch. The longer you leave them in water the more starch it gets rid of. This allows the sweet potatoes to get crispier once they are baked.
  2. Dab dry each fry one by one- Like this you will make sure all fries are dried thoroughly getting rid of all the moisture. This too will allow your fries to get crispy while they bake.
  3. Let them bake for a few extra minutes if you want them really crunchy- After flipping the fries, place back in oven and bake for another 12-15 minutes. Do 15-18 if you like them very crispy.
  4. Broil if desired- This will help get them pretty crunchy too. This step is great to add if you didn’t have much time to soak or dry the fries before baking.
