Ingredients

  • 5 oranges
  • 1 lemon
  • 3 large carrots
  • 1 inch piece of ginger root
  • 1 inch piece of turmeric root
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp honey

Instructions

  1. Start by peeling oranges and lemon (no need to peel carrots). Cut citrus and carrots into chunks to make them easier to run through juicer.
  2. Set up your juicer. Put ginger and turmeric roots through juicer first. Then carrots. At this point add black pepper and honey to the juice in your cup or pitcher. Stir well with a spoon.

  3. Continue to juice oranges and lemon. The citrus fruits have more water content so they will help wash out any ginger, turmeric or carrot residue left in the juicer as they get juiced.

  4. Stir your juice once again and serve in a glass or mason jar. You can refrigerate your juice for a few minutes if you wish to drink it cold. I like to make this juice first thing in the morning. Place it in my fridge and let it chill while I get ready. Then I drink it before I have my breakfast or with my breakfast. This part is totally optional and you can drink your juice right away too if you prefer.

Recipe Notes

Tips and Substitutions:

  1. Put all ingredients in the juicer in that exact order indicated in recipe- Citrus fruits contain a lot more liquid than carrots, ginger and turmeric do. The liquid from the citrus will help push through any chunks of the other ingredients that are left behind in the juicer.
  2. Don’t skip black pepper- Black pepper helps boost your body’s absorption of turmeric along with all it’s healing properties.
  3. Substitute for honey- If you don’t like honey or want to keep these vegan friendly, use maple syrup instead.
