Loaded Apple Nachos

I have been making apple nachos for a couple of years now. This is such a healthy snack and so fun to put together. Once fall started this year, I started noticing how trendy they have become this year. I’ve seen a lot of people making them. It had me wondering why I hadn’t shared my recipe for them here on the blog?

These loaded apple nachos take very little effort to make. All you have to do is slice a couple of apples. Throw some toppings on top and pop in the oven for five minutes. That’s it! You have yourself a nice snack or dessert. You choose!

This is a great snack to make for any occassion. They are perfect for a playdate snack, after school snack, or I even take them to the beach some times. They’re great to serve on game day or to share for family movie night. Getting the kids involved in making these is a great idea. They’ll have so much fun throwing all the toppings on top of them!

This is a great all year round recipe but especially perfect for the fall. There is such an abundance of apples around. This is the season where you can find a great selection of different kinds of apples. Especially if you live in an area where there’s apple picking. This is a great way to use up all those apples!

Ingredients needed to make Loaded Apple Nachos:

  • Apples– You can use any kind of apples you’d like. I like to use a mix of sweet and crisp apples with tart ones.
  • Nut Butter– Peanut butter or almond butter are great. I like to use creamy but you can use crunchy too. I do suggest using unsalted nut butters.
  • Dark Chocolate Chips– I like to use either chocolate morsels or chunks.
  • Cinnamon– Adds some spice.
  • Raw Walnuts and Raw Pecans– Or any other nuts you desire.

Equipment needed to make Loaded Apple Nachos:

  • Large Baking Sheet Pan– To bake the apples nachos on.
  • Parchment Paper– For lining baking sheet pan to prevent to apples and other ingredients from sticking to it.

How to make Loaded Apple Nachos:

  • Step 1– Preheat oven at 350 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • Step 2– Thinly slice apples and spread throughout the center of prepped baking sheet pan. Sprinkle cinnamon over apple slices and drizzle with maple syrup. Toss making sure apple slices are well coated with cinnamon and maple syrup.
  • Step 3– Drizzle nut butter over apple slices. Sprinkle chocolate chips, walnuts and pecans over apples. Place apple nachos in the oven and bake for 5 minutes.
  • Step 4– Remove apple nachos from oven and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Tips and Substitutions:

  1. Use combination of sweet and tart apples– I like using a sweet apple and a tart one. The contrast of tastes mixed with the flavors from the toppings take these apple nachos to a whole other level.
  2. Drizzle apple slices with fresh lime or lemon juice– This will prevent the apples from browning after being cut. This will allow you to store the apple nachos if you have leftovers.
  3. Switch up your nuts– Nuts add some crunch to the apple nachos. I like using walnuts and pecans but you can use any kind of nuts. Almond, cashews, peanuts and pistachios are all great.
  4. Use unsalted nut butters– Salted nut butters will overpower the rest of the flavors of the apple nachos.
  5. Make it nut-free– Use sunflower butter or tahini as a substitute for nut butters. Use seeds such as pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds or hemp hearts instead of nuts for nut-free apple nachos.
