Slow Cooker Carne Asada Tacos

One of my all time favorite foods have to be tacos. I mean, who doesn’t like tacos? Seriously, I can’t think of anyone! Tacos are just amazing and so delicious. They make for an easy dinner any day of the week!

These Slow Cooker Carne Asada Tacos are so tender, juicy, and flavorful. They are street style tacos made right at home with little effort. Plus, all ingredients are all much cleaner than those that may be used at a food truck.

I love making these tacos for any game day. They’re great to make for Sunday football. Just marinade your steak, place it in your slow cooker and let it do it’s thing. Once the steak is ready, assemble your tacos and go to town!

What cut of beef is used to make carne asada?

To make carne asada you want to use a cut that is flavorful and preferably tender. This recipe calls for flank steak since it’s pretty easy to find (don’t need to go to the butcher section) and it captures a lot of flavor and gets pretty tender. Especially when slow cooked in the Crockpot. Alternatively, other cuts of beef you can use are skirt steak, flap steak, or trimmed beef brisket.

How long does it take to cook carne asada?

It depends on what method you use to make carne asada. For tacos, I like my carne asada to be juicy and tender. Which is why I like to slow cook it. It usually takes 3-4 hours to slow cook. If you’re grilling it, it will take less than 5 minutes (beef cooks fast). It may take a little more if you don’t like any pink on the inside. When grilling, I suggest letting it marinade for at least two hours. The more it sits marinating, the more flavorful it will get.

Can I make these Slow Cooker Carne Asada in the Instant Pot instead?

Yes! You can certainly use your Instant Pot to make these Carne Asada Tacos. Follow all of the instructions the same and just set the Instant Pot on pressure cook and cook your steak for 5 minutes. Release pressure and remove steak from IP. Slice and serve!
