Valentine’s Day Festive Lunchbox

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I love that it’s a day dedicated to celebrate love and how pretty all the decorations around us are. My husband I have always been big on celebrating this special day since we started dating. Now that we are parents, we love celebrating with our daughter.

This Valentine’s Day Festive Lunchbox is such a cute and special way to get your kids involved in celebrating this lovely day. It will make them feel so special opening their lunch at school and seeing all the love! You can even get them involved in getting this lunch together. Making it even more special.

You can even think beyond a school lunch here. If your kids don’t go to school yet, you can still make this heart filled lunch for them and serve it at home. You can even make it for the whole family if you guys are all having lunch together. This lunch is such a fun and creative way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. All while keeping it simple and healthy of course!

Foods to make for this Valentine’s Day Festive Lunchbox:

  • Broccoli and Cheese Quesadillas Shaped like hearts.
  • Fruit– Blueberries, raspberries and strawberries.
  • Cucumbers– Cut into hearts.
  • Hummus– For dipping the cucumber in.
  • Plain Greek Yogurt– For dipping the fruit in.
  • Valentine’s Day Sprinkles– Makes the lunch extra fun and festive.

What you need to make this Valentine’s Day Festive Lunchbox:

  • Bento Style Lunchbox– These lunchboxes keep all of the food separated and easier to pack.
  • Valentine’s Day themed Picks– To make fruit skewers.
  • Heart Shaped Cookie Cutters– Different sizes to cut different foods into hearts.
  • Silicone Muffin Liners– Keep the food separated.

Heart Shaped Quesadillas for your Valentine’s Day Festive Lunchbox:

  • For the main dish in this festive lunch we are making Broccoli and Cheese QuesadillasThese are super easy to make and very healthy. Just follow the directions to make the quesadillas. Once they’re done, use a large heart shaped cookie cutter to turn them into hearts. You will get about 1-2 hearts from each quesadilla.
  • You can do this with any other type of quesadilla too– If your kids have a certain kind they like better, use that one. Have different ingredients to make another type of quesadillas? Use those instead. Make the kind of quesadilla you’d like and use the same process to turn them into hearts.

Making Cute Berry Skewers:

  1. For the first side, we are making fruit skewers- For these, we are using blueberries and raspberries. Raspberries are almost shaped like hearts and they are red. Making them a must have for this heart shaped V-Day lunchbox! Blueberries compliment the raspberries perfectly. Plus they are easy to rinse and no prepping needed.
  2. For the picks, use any Valentine’s Day themed picks- Better if they have hearts on the top and are red or pink. Just adds more detail to the whole lunchbox and vibrant colors.
  3. Start by taking a blueberry and put the pick though it– Then add a raspberry then a blueberry again. Continue until you can’t thread anymore fruit though your pick.

More Heart Shaped foods:

  • For the next two sides we are using another heart shaped cookie cutter but a slightly smaller one– We are making heart shaped cucumbers and strawberries. The heart shaped cucumbers are to be served with hummus. You can use any type of hummus you prefer.
  • With the strawberries we are making a sort of parfait– I used plain Greek yogurt and served it in one of the compartments. Then I topped it with the heart shaped strawberries. I also used Valentine’s Day sprinkles to make the yogurt even more festive.

How to cut your fruit into heart shapes using a cookie cutter:

How to make heart shaped cucumbers:

  1. Slice cucumbers into circles about 1/2 inch thick.
  2. Lay them on a cutting board.
  3. Then use your heart shaped cookie cutter to form a heart through them.

How to make heart shaped strawberries:

  1. For the strawberries lay them in front of you.
  2. Put the heart shaped cookie cutter through them and then cut in half lengthwise using a knife.
  3. You will end up with two heart shaped strawberries.

Putting your Valentine’s Day Festive Lunchbox together:

  1. To serve these fun heart shaped foods, you will want to use a bento style lunchbox– We love using bento lunchboxes because they make it so much easier to serve school lunches. They keep everything separated perfectly and keeps foods from dripping into each other. They also help with portion control.
  2. Start by placing your quesadillas in the largest compartment of your lunchbox- Place your picks in the longer part. Use silicone muffin liners to serve your hummus and yogurts. I like using this method to serve dips to minimize mess. Serve hummus and place in one compartment with cucumbers right next to it.
  3. Take another muffin liner and place on another compartment– Add a dollop or two of plain Greek yogurt and top with heart shaped strawberries. Sprinkle some Valentine’s Day themed sprinkles for more fun and to make it even more festive!
  4. You’re all done at this point!– Depending on what kind of lunchbox you have, the layout will look differently. However, it will all come together in a fun and festive way! The different shades of red and pink will make all the colors pop out. The lunchbox will look vibrant and all the hearts will make it an extra special Valentine’s Day!
