Ingredients needed to make Brownie Batter Overnight Oats:

  • Rolled Oats– Also known as old fashioned oats. Make sure they are gluten-free certified if you need them to be.
  • Chia Seeds– As they expand they will make the oats thicken.
  • Cocoa Powder– I like using unsweetened to not make the overnight oats too sweet.
  • Chocolate Protein Powder- Chocolate flavored collagen peptides works too.
  • Peanut Butter– Adds more protein and creaminess to these Brownie Batter Overnight Oats. I use creamy and unsalted peanut butter.
  • Maple Syrup– Adds some sweetness.
  • Dark Chocolate Chips– You do not want to skip these!
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk– Or any preferred milk.

Equipment needed to make Brownie Batter Overnight Oats:

  • 16 oz Mason Jar– These are my go-to jars to make overnight oats in. You can use any similar sized container. Just make sure they have a tight lid.
  • Measuring cups and spoons– For measuring all of the ingredients.

How to make Brownie Batter Overnight Oats:

  • Step 1– Take a 16 oz mason jar or any similar sized container with a tight lid. Layer all ingredients in mason jar. Preferably in the same order as ingredients are listed in.
  • Step 2– Place lid on mason jar and tightly seal it. Give jar a good shake making sure all the ingredients inside are well combined.
  • Step 3– Place brownie batter overnight oats in the fridge and refrigerate overnight.
  • Step 4-The next morning, remove overnight oats from the fridge. Open the lid and give them a good stir. Top with any preferred toppings like walnuts, strawberries, raspberries, etc.

Tips and Substitutions:

  1. Layer ingredients in jar in the order they are listed in recipe– You want to add your oats first, then the rest of dry ingredients, followed by wet ingredients finishing with your milk. This will allow your ingredients to sit better in your jar as you layer them. Making it a lot easier to shake and mix them together.
  2. Use a mason jar or airtight container to make your overnight oats in– This will keep them fresh as they are refrigerated overnight.
  3. Substitute for maple syrup– Use honey.
  4. Use any milk you prefer– You can use any plant-based or dairy milk you desire.
  5. No chocolate protein powder or collagen peptides– Just add another table spoon of cocoa powder. Add a tablespoon of plain Greek yogurt for the added protein and creaminess.

Variations:

  1. Make it vegan– To make these Brownie Batter Overnight Oats vegan friendly all you have to do is use a protein powder that is vegan.
  2. Make it nut-free– Omit using peanut butter. Substitute for some plain Greek yogurt to add more protein.
  3. Add more protein– Add a tablespoon of plain Greek yogurt for some added protein and creaminess to your oats.
  4. Make sweeter– If you would like your oats to be sweeter just add a bit more of maple syrup or more chocolate chips.
