Beet, Apple, Kiwi Puree

Introducing my daughter to solid foods was one of the most exciting parts about motherhood for me. I had looked forward to experiencing her reactions to new flavors and textures. Watching her mind work processing the new taste and automatically knowing to swallow was both entertaining and amazing to me.

Apples were one of the first foods I had her try and it was a success. She did great with beets too. She didn’t do as well with kiwis which is why I decided to include it in this combo. It helped get her more familiar with the taste of kiwi and eventually came around to loving it. It’s now one if her favorite fruits!

This Beet, Apple, Kiwi puree is packed with vitamin c, potassium antioxidants and fiber. It’s great to strengthen your baby’s immune system and facilitates digestion. Overall it has a pretty sweet flavor and a very soft texture. It’s great for babies who are new to solid foods.

At what age can my baby have this Puree?

This puree combination can be introduced to baby as early as 6 months old. It is highly suggested to first introduce each ingredients on it’s own before combining. This will discard any allergic reactions. The texture is very smooth and easy to digest.

What you need to make this Beet, Apple, Kiwi puree:

  • Red Beet
  • Apples
  • Kiwi

All of the ingredients in this puree are very rich in vitamins and minerals. This baby puree is a great source of Vitamins C, Potassium and Fiber. It’s great to aid baby’s digestion and boost their immune system.

How to freeze this baby Puree:

  1. Serve in portions your baby is currently eating.
  2. Use small airtight containers that are freezer friendly to store your baby food in.
  3. Freeze for up to 6 months.
  4. Thaw out in the fridge over night or for 12-24 hours.
  5. Transfer puree to a small pot and warm up on low heat.
  6. Feed puree to your baby.

Beet, Apple, Kiwi (6m+)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 red beet (1 whole one if it's small)
  • 1 apple
  • 2 kiwis

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop beet, apple and kiwi.

  2. Steam beet for 15-20 minutes. Add apple and steam for another 10-15 minutes.

  3. While beet and apple steam, blend kiwis and strain.

  4. Add kiwi to beet and apple and puree until desired consistency is reached.

  5. Divide into desired portions. Serve immediately and freeze the rest for up to three months.

  1. I loved making homemade baby food when my kids were little! Definitely takes a little work but it really isn’t that bad. This looks yummy, the beet and apple balance out the acidity of the kiwi.
