Avocado Tuna Salad FAQ’s:

What kind of tuna is best for Tuna Salad?

For this specific recipe, we like to use solid white albacore tuna in water. You also want to make sure it doesn’t have any added salt. This tuna won’t alter the taste or texture it already gets from the quick and easy dressing.

How do I know an avocado is ripe?

When shopping for your avocados, feel how hard they are. If they are really hard then they’re not ripe enough. If they’re too soft, then they’re already starting to rot on the inside. Chances are that avocado will be black and not taste good.

Another great way you can tell if an avocado is ready to be used; is simply by removing the stem right at the bottom. This will show you the color of the inside of the avocado. If it looks kind of yellowish then it’s not ready. Brownish means it has started to go bad. You want a bright green shade!

Can I use chicken instead?

Yes. If you are not a fan of tuna or can’t eat it, you can certainly use shredded chicken for this recipe instead. You can also use shredded salmon if you just want to switch up the fish.

Meal Prepping it:

This Tuna Avocado Salad is best if served right away. However, you can make it ahead and it will last in the fridge for 2-3 days. Just don’t add the avocado or dressing until you are ready to serve.

Storing Avocado Tuna Salad:

As the salad sits in the fridge with the avocado and dressing in it; the avocado will start to brown and the cucumbers will lose their crispiness.
